Grape Varieties
A blend, primarily, of Shiraz and Pinotage with Cinsaut, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Merlot, Carignan, Gamay and Cabernet being used to achieve a style consistent with what Goats do Roam has become famous for.
Winery
Fairview owner/vintner Charles Back has built what started as a single red blend named Goats do Roam into a fully-fledged wine company offering a range of top-quality, blended wines widely available throughout the wine-drinking world, which is now the top selling South African brand in the USA. Fruit for the wines is sourced from vineyards in the Paarl, Malmesbury and Stellenbosch areas, where Back owns farms or buys in fruit from selected wine growers. No matter what their origins, grapes are selected based on the basis of inherent fruit quality and flavour characteristics required for each respective blend in the range.

Viticulture
The grapes were harvested from vineyards in the Paarl, Perdeberg, Piekenierskloof and Malmesbury regions. The majority of grapes are sourced from dry farmed old bush vines. These vineyards provide low yields, resulting in wine with considerable concentration. This vintage has for the first time incorporated fruit from Stellenbosch, adding ripe, supple tannins to the blend.
Winemaking & Maturation
The various, predominantly Rhône varietals were harvested ripe and destalked before being fermented at 25 - 28°C. The wine is lightly oaked before being carefully blended and bottled.
Tasting Note
Appearance: Vibrant brick red. Nose: Ripe red fruit, with a fragrant lift, with liquorice and spice notes. Palate: Fruit follows through, with fragrant notes completing the medium bodied mouth feel. Well integrated with a smooth finish.
Cellaring Potential
The wine is ready for drinking. Enjoy over the next year or two.
Food Recommendations
A great all rounder that is perfect for parties or informal foods like pizza, tomato based pasta dishes, burgers or lamb chops.
